We are the only species that generates waste as a byproduct that either can’t be – or just isn’t- turned into a resource. We are dumping industrial wastes into our waterways; incinerating our waste streams, sending toxic pollution into our air; and burying it in landfills located near communities of color. We are filling in wetlands and marshlands where pollution of groundwater is a concern. What actions can we take to reduce our waste stream, and protect our communities and environment implementing closed loop systems that turn our waste stream into resources?
